College PRep Services

Our experts are trained to help students narrow down their colleges of interest and rank them by priority.

College Applications

The college application process has many layers and can be an overwhelming experience. Let us help guide you through the process, one step at a time. Our experts are trained to help students narrow down their colleges of interest and rank them by priority. We help students identify their strengths and unique talents to craft a compelling personal essay. A well written application and student resume will help them to stand out from the crowd. Next comes scholarship applications to help fund your student’s educational endeavors.

We also meet with high school students to review their current academic arrangements and ensure they are equipped to meet their future goals. Our team will discuss what AP classes should be taken for a student’s planned major and career path. We can advise on all aspects of college readiness, class scheduling, and extra curricular activities to make your student’s transition as smooth as possible.

Aptitude Testing

At Home Academy’s expertly trained staff facilitates our aptitude testing and conducts the post-assessment consultation. Your student’s profile will provide you with direction and focus in a practical, objective way. This unique assessment reveals their natural talents to help understand the “why” behind many of their behaviors such as procrastination, job boredom, intensity, and more.

There are no pass or fail scores — no good or bad scores. The assessment facilitates better self-management in career and college choices by focusing on a student’s natural abilities and strengths. When the assessment results are interpreted, student’s “low” scores tell us as much about them as their “high” scores do.

After your student’s assessment, a 30-page report will show how they learn best, the most suitable study environment for them, how they communicate most effectively, and how they solve problems on a daily basis. Our team will go over their report in detail and discuss ways that their scores can inform personal life and career choices, as well as improve the way they relate to school and work.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DOES AT HOME ACADEMY WORK?

At Home Academy offers private tutoring and test prep, ACT prep classes, a natural abilities assessment, specialty services, and summer programming. All of our programming is customized to meet the needs of each student.

HOW DO I GET A TUTOR?

Call or email to schedule a free consultation. Consultations enable us to match a student with the tutor best suited to their needs. Tutors are ready to meet with your student within 24 hours of the initial consultation. Tutoring is typically twice a week, for one hour each session.

WHAT CAN I GET HELP WITH?

At Home Academy tutors specialize in a broad range of skills and subjects. We have tutors who tutor everything from kindergarten readiness skills to high school physics and college-level course work. After the free consultation, a student is matched with the tutor best suited to their needs.

WHAT'S THE MINIMUM TIME TO WORK WITH A TUTOR?

The minimum time to work with a tutor is two hours a week. Research has shown that at least two hours of tutoring are needed to show significant and steady progress.

After each session is completed, the tutor sends a detailed report of what was covered, so that all session content can be reviewed at any time.

CAN I WORK WITH THE SAME TUTOR AGAIN?

Yes. The student works with the same tutor throughout the sessions, unless the student/parent requests a change.

HOW CAN I BECOME A TUTOR?

At Home Academy is always looking for new tutors. If you have strong academics and a willingness to work with students, send a cover letter and resume to AtHomeAcad@gmail.com

DO WE TUTOR COLLEGE OR JUNIOR COLLEGE STUDENTS?

Yes. If you are just getting started, home for the holidays, or an older student returning to school, we can provide a tutor. One of our recent students was a 60-year-old returning student who needed help with an English essay.

WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

Rates depend on the program you choose. Tutoring rates are based on the number of sessions. ACT Prep is priced by course. Natural Abilities Assessment is based on assessment and analysis.
